President Donald Trump apparently believes that, simply because a prosecutor chooses not to press charges against an individual, this doesn’t mean the individual is totally innocent of a crime.

It’s even possible, according to Trump, that the higher-up making this legal decision is corrupt and acting out of some sort of bias or personal interest.

Interesting take, huh?

For once, we’d have to say we agree with the Commander-in-Chief.

As you no doubt have read by now, Smollett is no longer facing any charges in relation to the alleged attack against in back on January 29 in Chicago.

The state’s attorney office dropped these charges entirely a few days ago, much to the chagrin and shock of nearly everyone who has been following this very strange saga.

And this includes the Mayor of Chicago and members of the Chicago Police Department, all of whom who are on record as saying they think Smollett is guilty and deserving of, at the very least, a court trial.

"This is a whitewash of justice," Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel told reporters on Tuesday, adding:

"You have a person using hate crime laws that are on the books to protect people who are minorities from violence to then turn around and use those laws to advance your career and your financial reward.

"Is there no decency in this man?"

President Trump, who may have a different reason for taking this side, agrees with Emanuel and everyone who thinks something shady is going on here.

Vladimir Putin’s best bud Tweeted today that federal agencies ought to look into why Smollett was cut loose by the state’s attorney office, writing:

FBI & DOJ to review the outrageous Jussie Smollett case in Chicago. It is an embarrassment to our Nation!

Smollett, of course, has alleged that his two assailants were white men who screamed "MAGA country" in his direction during their attack.

For this reason, those who think the Empire star orchestrated the entire incident also think he partly did so to make a point about Donald Trump supporters and their intolerance.

As a result, in February, Trump demanded Smollett apologize to the "tens of millions of people" from MAGA nation he insulted with his phony assault claim.

In this one instace, Trump may have a point.

And he may get his wish.

Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police announced it had filed with the Department of Justice on Tuesday … immediately following the announcement Jussie would not stand trial.

The FBI’s probe of the State’s Attorney’s decision was then announced Wednesday afternoon.

Smollett, meanwhile, is not backing down.

After the charegs were dropped, Smollett thanked God and his supporters and told the world:

"I’ve been truthful and consistent on every single level since day one. I would not be my mother’s son if I was capable of doing one drop of what I was accused of."

Even the lawyer who determined this case was not worth pursuing doesn’t agree, though.

First Assistant State’s Attorney Joseph Magats said on Tuesday that he stands "behind the investigation" and:

"The mere fact that it was disposed of in an alternative manner does not mean that there were any problems or infirmities in the case or the evidence."

Wait, so why were the charges dropped?

"Here’s the thing — we work to prioritize violent crime and the drivers of violent crime. Public safety is our number one priority. I don’t see Jussie Smollett as a threat to public safety."

Welp, that’s absurd.

All of a sudden, Chicago will only go after violent criminals who place others in danger?

Sounds like the perfet time to cheat on your taxes and do some drugs, everyone! Enjoy!
