The McCain family has been inundated with vile messages after Trump’s vicious attacks over the past week.

While his motivation for repeatedly targeting a widely respected late senator remain unclear, this has to stop.

It has grown so bad that John McCain’s younger, much more private daughter, Bridget McCain, is speaking up and slamming Trump.

While Meghan McCain has coasted on her father’s image to build her own career, Bridget has remained much more private.

But this week, she decided that enough was enough, and took to Twitter to say as much.

"Everyone doesn’t have to agree with my dad or like him," Bridget writes in a tweet directed at Donald Trump.

"But," she says. "I do ask you to be decent and respectful."

"If you can’t do those two things," Bridget continues. "Be mindful."

"We only said goodbye to him almost 7 months ago," she reminds Trump and his supporters.

With that out of the way, Bridget goes on the offensive.

"Even if you were invited to my dad’s funeral," Bridget says in a follow-up tweet. "You would have only wanted to be there for the credit."

"And," she very correctly points out. "Not for any condolences."

"Unfortunately," Bridget says. "You could not be counted on to be courteous."

Bridget concludes: "as you are a child in the most important role the world knows."

That is all some scalding tea.

As we noted, 27-year-old Bridget has ofted avoided the public eye.

Part of that shyness dates back to a smear campaign orchestrated against her late father back in 2000.

During the 2000 primary, political strategist Karl Rove targeted some of the most racist GOP primary voters.

Working on then-Governor George W. Bush’s behalf, Rove had a "phone survey" use racist terminology to describe Bridget to voters.

Under the guise of a question, the survey was meant to let racists jump to conclude that Senator McCain had fathered a mixed-race child wtih a black woman.

In reality, John and Cindy adopted Bridget in 1991, when she was a Bangladeshi orphan in need of medical care.

Taking to Instagram, Meghan McCain praised her sister’s strong words.

"Incredibly proud of my brave sister Bridget @bridgyyyyboo for speaking out against President Trump," Meghan writes.

Addressing Bridget directly, she gushes: "I love you more than I could ever possibly say."

"Your strength and grace continues to help carry us all through our grief," Meghan concludes.

Picking a fight with Trump on Twitter is no small act when he’s already pummelling your family over the platform.

The man has no sense of decorum, no moral compass, and no boundaries. You never know how he could respond.

Bridget is absolutely correct when she says that it is acceptible to disagree with or even dislike her late father.

Though widely respected on both sides of the political aisle, no one is going to agree with his every decision.

In fact, many believe that his catastrophic choice of Sarah Palin as his 2009 running mate helped pave the way for Trump in 2016.

But criticisms of the late senator should not be directed at his grieving family.

And if you want to poke fun at Meghan McCain, she provides almost daily ammunition through her behavior on The View.

You don’t need to bring up her dad for that.
