The Bachelor is a mostly scripted reality show that preys on the willingness of viewers to believe in fairy tale romances that are sparked by cheesy one-liners and contrived helicopter trips to exotic locations.

In other words…

… viewers really need to chill the eff out with how seriously they take this series.

Never has this been more true than in the case of Caelynn Miller-Keyes.

The scorned suitor, who just finished in fourth place on Colton Underwood’s ongoing season of The Bachelor, took to her Instagram page yesterday and shared something truly horrifying:

There are folks out there who have wished her and other women on the program harm.

Like, physical, even deadly harm.

"Looking at the trolls like… We live in a world where we never do anything right. Ever. Everyone always has an opinion," wrote the former beauty pageant contestant alongside a photo of herself looking sad.

She then got into the really disturbing fallout of her time on The Bachelor:

This experience has been so incredibly difficult. This show is super easy to make fun of, I get it, but viciously tearing people down is absolutely disgusting. Girls on my season are getting death threats, I’m getting told to go kill myself. That’s not okay.

No, it definitely is not okay.

Caelynn came under some heat this season for allegedly being on the show for all the wrong reasons.

That is, fellow contestants, specifically Katie, accused Caelynn of caring more about trying to be the next Bachelorette than caring about Colton as a human being.

Miller-Keyes has denied this was the case, not that it would be an excuse for anyone to say such awful things to her regardless.

"We are not perfect," she continued in her latest Instagram post, adding:

"We screw up (myself maybe more than others) but this show is partly about finding yourself, and that means falling in the process. You can have your opinions, but keep the extra hurtful comments to yourself.

"The internet can be very dark, and instead of feeding into it, try taking a step back."

Well said, right?

Caelynn, who revealed to Colton several weeks ago that she was raped in college, concluded as follows:

We are real people. These emotions are real. You’re watching a tv show, but we felt all of these feelings in a very intense way. Remember that the next time you go to someone’s page to tear them down.

Thankfully, Caelynn has received the full support of Bachelor Nation in the wake of this messsage.

“PREACH,” Corinne Olympios remarked in response, while Chris Randone chimed in as follow:

“Caelynn you did one of the bravest things in the show’s history. You’re a beautiful soul, don’t ever forget that.”

Jade Roper, meanwhile, left heart emojis on Caelynn’s post, while Underwood’s former frontrunner, Cassie Randolph, wrote:

“So well said. Love you lots.”
