The 2019 Golden Globes were held last night, and as anticipated, the ceremony itself was kind of a snoozefest.

Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh were bland, safe choices as hosts; no one seemed particularly excited about the nominees; and the only real highlight was Jeff Bridges talking about advances in nautical engineering.

(HBO)

Fortunately, a single commercial prevented the evening from being a total waste of time.

The spot was from HBO, and it offered glimpses of some of the highly-anticipated projects that network has slated for 2019.

The debut of Watchmen, the returns of True Detective and Big Little Lies — these are the big-ticket projects that a service needs to offer up in order to convince you that it’s somehow worth more than Netflix.

But of course, the real must-see TV that subscribers have been eagerly awaiting since way back in 2017 is the final episodes of Game of Thrones.

Yes, the Game of Thrones Season 7 finale aired way back In August of 2017.

And sadly, we’re still several months away from the start of the show’s final run, which doesn’t begin until April.

Fortunately, those 21st-century robber barons who run the Home Box Office decided to throw us peasants a crumb during last night’s 2019 preview.

GoT Season 8 Dragon
(HBO)

Okay so we get a full six seconds of GoT, but what a six seconds!

Sansa and Daenerys finally come face-to-face, and in a convergence of plot threads that would have seemed unimaginable in Season 1, Sansa hands the keys to Winterfell over (figuratively speaking) to the freakin’ Khaleesi!

"Winterfell is yours, your grace," Sansa says all chill-like, as though she’s not setting in motion a climactic chain of events that we’ve been waiting for since 2011 (1996, for you book-reading nerds).

Game of Thrones Season 8 Khaleesi
(HBO)

It’s a testament to the unprecedented scope of Game of Thrones that two of the most important characters on the show never crossed paths, but it never felt unnatural or forced.

These two boss bishes were simply kicking ass and taming dragons in different parts of Westeros, and now they’re ready to join forces against … White Walkers? The Lannisters? A 40-year winter that’ll lay waste to their entire world.

Probably all of those things and more — and we can’t freakin’ wait.
