Sadly, we’re still several months away from the Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere.

Fortunately, fans of genre-bending HBO prestige dramas have the futuristic theme park-set Westworld to help them pass the time until Daenerys arrives in Westeros and cruises to inevitable victory like a dragon-taming Hillary Clinton.

(Would anyone else not be shocked if one of the Podesta emails centered around the questions of whether or not dragons exist and the practicality of using them to eradicate emails and/or people who ask a lot of questions about emails?)

Viewers have complained that Westworld hasn’t packed much of an emotional punch, as most of the screentime is devoted to robots who live same day over and over, or "guests" who can’t be killed while they’re visiting the park.

As a result of the show’s unique premise, it’s often unclear what’s at stake in any given scene.

Some critics have suggested that husband-and-wife showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy could learn a lesson from GoT with regard to ratcheting up the tension and human drama.

Now, it looks as though some folks – including George R.R. Martin himself – think should Nolan and Joy should take things a step further and combine the two series for one gloriously nerd-tastic episode.

Yes, if you’ve ever dreamed of a WesterosWorld theme park, you may be in luck – just as long as Joy can come to grips with the fact that dragons don’t exist.

In the original 1973 film upon which the series is based, Westworld is one of several history-themed tourist destinations.

There’s also a Roman World and a Medieval World, and it seems that Martin recently proposed the idea of using GoT sets and characters should Nolan and Joy ever decide to depict the other parks.

“We love George and our daughter’s first trip anywhere in the world was out to Santa Fe for a screening of The Prestige at his theater, the Jean Cocteau,” Nolan recently told Entertainment Weekly.

“He’s a lovely guy and a stunning writer and it’s flattering he would encourage a crossover. We should be so lucky.”

Nolan’s response smacks of politely declining, but it also sounds like he’s leaving the door open.

Joy, however, is less enthused for a perfectly understandable reason:

“I need to be believe that dragons are real,” she says.

“I want them be a real thing. So as much as I love George, I can’t lose that for myself!"

It’s true that the GoT-Westorld crossover probably won’t happen, but unlike Dany’s forthcoming scorched-earth campaign, it likely won’t have anything to do with dragons.

The fact of the matter is, Game of Thrones has won more Emmys than any other series in history and it only has 13 episodes left in its wildly popular run.

Westworld, on the other hand, has enjoyed stellar early ratings but it still has a lot to prove in terms of longevity and critical appeal.

(This Sunday, the show will face a major hurdle as it goes up against a new episode of The Walking Dead for the first time.)

So, a fun little stunt like a crossover episode doesn’t present much of a risk for the brains behind GoT.

For Westworld, however, it could undermine the show’s solemn tone and serve as an early shark jump moment.

So sadly, it looks like a world where you can pay for the privilege of buying Tyrion Lannister a flagon of mead or help slay a Walker with a dragonglass sword will continue to exist only in your imagination.

Fortunately, you can always watch Game of Thrones online to sustain you through the long, Stark-less winter ahead.
