A firefighter named Jason Harding paid tribute to his fallen comrades in unique, memorable and moving fashion on Sunday.
To mark the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that killed over 3,000 people in September 11, 2001, Harding stopped by a Planet Fitness in Tennessee.
He did so in full uniform.
Harding proceeded to keep the uniform on and walk 110 sets of stairs on the Stairmaster. Why this number of stairs?
Because each of the Twin Towers had 110 floors.
Lezlie Bauler, a front desk associate at the gym, shared the photo Harding’s emotional gesture on Facebook.
She wrote the following as a caption to the above image:
"This man asked if it was okay for him to climb 110 sets, fully suited, of stairs in honor of his fallen brothers and sisters for 9-11.
"Yes sir, you can. I am not one to get emotional, but a few tears were shed. Thank you for your service."
Not much else really has to be said, does it?
Over the weekend, various celebrities recognized this same occasion… with various degrees of respect.
First, there was Jenelle Evans, who tried really hard to be somber about the attacks and the many lives lost.
But then the Teen Mom wrote how can "almost relate" to those who lost a loved one 15 years ago because her uncle may have died in the plane crashes if he hadn’t retired a week before.
Evans tried to clarify her Tweet, but it was far too little, far too late…
Then there was Kim Kardashian, who understands full well how to use social media.
She didn’t try to draw attention to herself in anyway, simply sharing a quick personal anecdote and then honoring the memories of that fateful day.
"15 years ago today I remember my dad calling me waking me up to tell me not to come into the office & told me what happened in NYC," Kim wrote on Instagram, prior to adding:
"We then had a family meeting at my moms & prayed. Life is so precious & I pray for everyone who was affected by this awful tragedy. #NeverForget911."
She included with her message the picture below:
This is clearly nothing compared to what Harding went ahead and did in honor of those in his profession who were killed because they were heroes.
But it’s a whole lot better than what Evans said.
