On Monday, NeNe Leakes announced she is not returning to The Real Housewives of Atlanta. But just because she is leaving the show doesn’t mean she won’t miss it.
NeNe told People Magazine that she “feels free” now that she is an ex-Atlanta housewife. But she does have some sentimental memories.
Leakes says, “It’s been bittersweet for me. I’ve been there since the very beginning. When I started my youngest son was in third grade, now he’s in the 11th!"
Of course, she is happy to put the drama behind her, but she will miss the good times (what few there were).
"I’ll miss some of the laughs that I’ve had on the show over the years," states Leakes.
NeNe’s friendships on RHOA have been fickle over the years. She had an on-and-off friendship with former Atlanta housewife and Bravo star Kim Zolciak. NeNe has also been a longtime friend of her cast mate Cynthia Bailey.
However, NeNe says, “I don’t know if there’s anyone in particular that I’ll miss.”
When asked if she has any regrets, NeNe’s answer is not surprising: “No,” she says."I honestly do not have any regrets.”
“I never sacrificed who I was as a person. I never sacrificed NeNe. I feel like so many girls come on reality TV and they sacrifice and change so much. I never changed who I was for a story line or a paycheck or anything. I feel good about that,” she adds.
Now that she is done with RHOA, NeNe is onto new projects. NeNe is starring in a primetime game show with Betty White. The show, To Tell the Truth, is a reboot of a classic ‘60s game show.
To Tell the Truth might give her some much needed rest and recuperation after so many years on RHOA.
Filming for RHOA was arduous, she claims. "Every year we shot for six months every day except Sunday and Monday. I found strength in me I didn’t even know I had!"
“I can breathe a little,” she says appreciatively.
