Nicki Minaj made not have a beef with Taylor Swift, but Ed Sheeran is here to tell the world that no one should have a beer with Taylor Swift.

Not for any MTV Video Music Awards-related reason, at least.

As the Twitterverse knows well by now, Minaj expressed displeasure this week with the nominations for the 2015 VMAs, lamenting online that only artists who "celebrate slim women" received nods.

Taylor took this as a jab in her direction, the stars exchanged a few barbs and the issue was mostly settled amicably.

But Sheeran is here to make sure his good friend gets off the hook.

“I think everyone knows that Taylor has done nothing wrong in that situation,” the 24-year-old told The Daily Telegraph, adding of the VMAs:

"She didn’t nominate herself for the awards. It’s not her fault. She just made some good videos and people think they’re good.

"I think the Minaj point is a bit redundant, her point is that you have to be skinny and white to get a Video of the Year nomination, but Beyonce’s "7/11" is in there, and that is celebrating the female figure in every form."

On the flip side, Katy Perry also interjected in the mini Minaj-Swift feud… though she was far less kind on her assessment of Swift, that’s for certain.
