More and more high school seniors are trying to send important message via this yearbook quotes these days.
Some of those messages have to do with one’s sexual orientation… others have to do with cats… and still others are all about unfair dress codes.
The latter applies to Chloe Cross, a graduating senior at San Manteo High School who couldn’t leave for college without getting a dig in at the administration.
Wrote Cross as her departing yearbook quote:
“I would just like to apologize to those who were unable to graduate with the class of 2015 because they were too distracted by my midriff and consequently failed all of their classes! xoxo."
The 17-year old told Good Morning America she was inspired to leave this message after she and her female classmates got into trouble for what she said teachers described as “distracting” clothes.
"They’re saying that girls are responsible for wearing attire that makes it easy for people around them to learn, that they’re too distracting if they’re showing skin and they need to take time out of their day to cover up so everyone else can focus… because apparently they couldn’t before,” Cross said.
Cross was told to go home and change earlier this year after her shorts were deemed too short, a policy she believes to be “sexist.”
“Meanwhile, guys take their shirts off at lunch or wear bro tanks where you can see their chests,” Cross said of what she seems as a disparity in how the two genders are treated.
School dress codes often create controversy.
Remember when this Utah student was forced to cover up at a school dance because her outfit was labeled "inappropriate?"
We’ve gone ahead and included Cross’ quote among some of our favorite yearbook quotes of all-time:
