Having culled the field from 20 to 12 over three nights last week, the Voice is down to its top dozen singers of Season 8, and they left it all out on the floor Monday.
Also, Reba herself was on hand to advise them!
Two of the Top 12 contestants will be eliminated on Tuesday night’s The Voice results show, and the coaches can’t do a thing about it for the first time this year.
Who will survive, and who will get the chop?!
Deanna Johnson (Team Adam): It was an interesting choice to have her sing "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" by Christian act Hillsong United here.
There’s no question that her voice is strong and compelling, but will the voters connect with it? After the opening made it hard to hear her lines especially?
Sawyer Fredericks (Team Pharrell) was up against it from the start taking on "Imagine" by John Lennon. Talk about big shoes to fill and high expectations.
The performance lived up to them, though. Uplifting and inspirational, he did the song justice and likely moved on to the Top 10 next week as a result.
Hannah Kirby (Team Blake): Taking on "Edge of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks, she felt a little uneven at times, but the judges seemed to like it a lot. Will America?
Corey Kent White (Team Blake): Shelton tried to get him to show off his bad boy side with "Why" by Jason Aldean, a country star with that kind of streak.
He’s got talent, for sure, but it remains to be seen if this solid cover is enough to get past two other artists who may have stood out more on this night.
Joshua Davis (Team Adam) was tasked with a performance of Simon & Garfunkel song "America," to show off the singer and songwriter side of him.
He did a nice job with it. Pharrell called it masterful, which may be a bit of a stretch, but Williams is known to speak in such terms. The voters will decide!
Brian Johnson (Team Adam): He settled down enough to bring it home on a solid if unspectacular cover of the hit "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" by Sting.
India Carney (Team Christina). With the help of Xtina and Reba, she made Hozier’s "Take Me to Church" edgy and unique. Will the voters like that, though?
Mia Z (Team Pharrell): The 16-year-old sang the classic "Miss You" by the Rolling Stones, which posed challenges for her vocally, but she was respectable.
Rob Taylor (Team Christina) tried to reward Aguilera for saving him last week with a rendition of "I Put a Spell on You" that brought the house down.
Koryn Hawthorne (Team Pharrell) took it to the house with a cover of "Stronger" by Kelly Clarkson that was stronger than anything she’s done thus far.
Meghan Linsey (Team Blake) went for a breakout moment on "Girl Crush" by Little Big Town. Did she get it? The jury is still out on that as of this post.
Kimberly Nichole (Team Christina) performed the singing competition staple "House of the Rising Sun" and showed us why. She’s a bona fide contender!
Who do you think will be in the bottom three tonight on The Voice results show, and of those three, who do you think will be sent home by America?
