We now know when the Jon Stewart era will end and the Trevor Noah era will begin.
Stewart, who surprised many when he announced he would be leaving The Daily Show after 16-plus seasons at the helm, told viewers last night that his final episode will air on August 6.
"I will be wearing a suit. I will more than likely be showered," Stewart teased of his farewell, reacting to boos from the the studio audience with:
"I’m sorry, I’ll be wearing overalls and I won’t shower."
Stewart is also using his exit as a chance to raise money for an important cause.
As explained in the above video, tickets to Stewart’s final Daily Show taping are being raffled off on Omaze, and all proceeds will go to New York Collaborates for Autism and "Night of Too Many Stars."
No exact date on which Noah will take over has been announced, but it’s safe to assume the South African comedian will officially become host some time in September.
Noah, relatively new to American audiences, has already faced his first scandal:
Some critics called for his removal (from a post he has not yet started) after a series of controversial Trevor Noah Tweets went viral last month.
