Earlier this month, rumors that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield had broken up were all over the tabloids.
For several weeks, neither party confirmed the split, but tellingly, neither side denied it, either.
Now, thanks to a joint statement from the actors’ reps, we know that Emma and Andrew are officially over, but the question of why they went their separate ways still remains.
Initial reports indicated that Andrew was too focused on his career and had become obsessed his role in the Martin Scorsese film that he’s currently filming in Taiwan.
Now, Us Weekly is reporting that Andrew certainly developed an obsession while in Taiwan, but it wasn’t with his work…
“Andrew cheated on Emma with a girl in Taiwan,” a source tells the tabloid. “He confessed to Emma and she was horrified. She broke up with him right away.
“Emma had noticed that Andrew was acting different – more distant. At first he blamed all his stress on filming the movie, but then he broke down.”
The insider adds that Emma “can’t trust him anymore” and she’s “starting to think there may have been other girls too.”
For his part, Andrew is reportedly more upset with himself than Emma is. The source says he’s been regularly drunk dialing her and asking for a second chance, but she’s standing firm in her decision to call it quits.
