Rick Grimes and company actually took a shower on The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 12.
But did that mean they washed away all of their paranoia?
We picked up this week with the survivors walking through the gates and into Aaron’s supposedly safe community, with Daryl putting an arrow through a possum right away after getting freaked out by a sound.
Oh, yes, our heroes have many reasons to be on edge.
After Sasha killed a walker, Ohio Congresswoman Deanna Monroe agreed with Rick: it was a good thing they had arrived. Videotaping their chat for the sake of transparency, Monroe told Rick that his group was the first one she had allowed inside in ages.
"I want you to help us survive," she told Rick.
Can we trust her?
The survivors were required to hand over their guns in order to stick around, with Aaron proceeding to show them their new homes. They were huge!
This is when Rick showered and even shed a tear while getting a haircut because he had not experienced regular human contact in so long.
Because they were all unsure, all 15 of our heroes and heroines slept in the same living room their first night. Michonne, while hesitant, did say she had a “good feeling” about Alexandria, however.
Deanna dropped by at bedtime, though, and mentioned something to Rick and Michonne about “jobs” she had for them.
The next day, Carl was set up with a play date and told his dad that he liked the folks there, but they were “soft.”
He was concerned about losing his own edge, but that fear was quickly quelled when he followed a girl named Enid into the woods and promptly lost track of her. When Carl and Rick ran into a bunch of walkers, they took them out without any firearms at all.
(Rick had gone to look for a gun he hid in a blender, but it was gone.)
Nearby – as you’ll see when you watch The Walking Dead online – Glenn, Tara and Noah were on a scouting mission with Deanna’s son, Aidan and Nicholas. It went very poorly, as Aidan nearly got Tara killed due to his vendetta against a walker.
Aidan later yelled at his mother about letting these new people in and then threw down with Glenn, who said they actually “know what we’re doing out there.”
Once everything settled down, Deanna announced that Rick and his friends were now equals with everyone else. They were to be treated as such. As for the job she had in mind for him and Michonne? Constable!
That evening, Rick put on his sheriff’s uniform and told Daryl and Carol to go sleep in their own home.
“If they can’t make it,” he said of the others, sounding scarily like the Governor. "Then we’ll just take this place.”
We love it! And we cannot wait for The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 13!
