Phylicia Rashad is here to set the record straight.

The former Cosby Show actress made headlines of the wrong kind this week when she commented on the sexual assault allegations swirling around ex-co-star Bill Cosby.

"Forget these women," Rashad said of the women who have accused Cosby of rape.

She went on to say there’s some kind of conspiracy at play and that this is an "orchestrated" attempt to destroy Cosby’s "legacy."

In response, the alleged victims of Cosby’s attacks turned to Rashad and essentially asked: Huh? Are you kidding?!?

Turns out, Rashad isn’t kidding. She was simply misquoted.

"That is not what I said," the 66-year old told ABC last night of the infamous ‘forget’ remark. "What I said is, ‘this is not about the women. This is about something else. This is about the obliteration of legacy.’"

To emphasize her point, Rashad added: “I am a woman. I would never say such a thing."

Cosby, of course, has been accused by over 20 women of drugging them and assaulting them over the years.

He has remained very quiet throughout this ordeal, although his attorney has issued multiple statements in defense of his client.

When asked to comment on the disturbing rumors (not to mention civil lawsuits) Cosby is facing, Rashad simply said:

“I can’t speak to those things and wouldn’t want to," adding that "what has happened is declaration in the media of guilt without proof."
