Very little time was wasted on The Flash Season 1 Episode 9.
Almost immediately, viewers were introduced to The Man in the Yellow Suit, a villain we should simply refer to as Reverse Flash going forward.
After hearing eyewitnesses account of the character, Barry and Joe realized they are dealing with the same individual who murdered Nora (and who also freaked Joe out a few weeks ago).
Our hero received an up-close, personal look at Reverse Flash when this speedster lured Barry to a football field … for a VERY rough scrimmage.
“I’m always one step ahead,” he taunted in a distorted voice. “Your destiny is to lose to me, just as your mother’s destiny was to die that night.”
Ouch. That’s just rude, Reverse Flash.
So Dr. Wells and his team got ready to trap Reverse Flash, bating him with some kind of particles that were procured from Mercury Labs’ Tina McGee.
While this was going on, Barry was tending to a bit of personal business.
After presenting Iris a replica of her mom’s wedding band, Eddie wondered out loud whether Barry has feelings for his girlfriend.
Barry said no. He then talked with his dad in prison and got motivated to reveal the truth; he went back and told Iris that he has loved her since before he even knew what the word meant.
However, after losing so many people in his life, he’s simply scared of her losing her as well.
“I couldn’t lie to you anymore,” Barry says, causing Iris to cry and say in response: “I’m sorry."
On the Caitlin front, she believes a homeless man to be her late fiancee. But Cisco helps her track him down and the man says this he is a metahuman named Firestorm, not Ronnie. Prepare for this to be a major storyline in 2015.
At S.T.A.R. Labs, the trap does catch Reverse Flash. But he’s able to reverse (naturally) the force field and capture Wells. When Barry shows up, these two have it out again. And Reverse Flash wins… again.
But, as you’ll see when you watch The Flash online, Firestorm them appears and breaks up the brawl. He tells Caitlin never to seek him out again.
Joe lets Eddie in on the metahumans thing as a result of this incident, while Wells yells at Caitlin and Cisco for keeping Ronnie’s new identity a secret.
Finally, we end with Christmas at the West residence. Wells uses a Flash-crested ring to access a secret closet inside his secret room And inside is the Reverse-Flash costume. WHOA!
After attaching a tachyron to the suit, Wells wishes Barry a Merry Christmas – in Reverse-Flash’s notable voice.
