The Kardashian family has been blurring the line between reality nonsense and scripted nonsense for almost a decade now, so it’s safe to say that Kris Jenner is somewhat of an expert when it comes to keeping up with the appearances.
But it seems that these days it’s harder than ever for Kris and kompany to maintain the illusion that the Jenner-Kardashian clan is a one big, happy family, and not just a well-oiled money-making machine.
Kris’s divorce from Bruce Jenner has reportedly driven a wedge between the two sides of the blended family, with some members reportedly vowing to cut ties with their step siblings.
That means, of course, that the big holiday gatherings we’ve seen on the family’s many reality shows may be a thing of the past. But that doesn’t mean Kris is ready to say goodbye to those sweet, sweet E! network ratings.
So with her family drifting apart, Kris did what any good momager would do and faked a merry Christmas.
Yes, we already knew the Kardashian Thanksgiving was a fraud, and now it seems that Kris repeated the stunt by staging the most fake-looking Christmas special since Rudolph.
Insiders tell Radar Online that none of Kris’ kids had any interest in showing up to her Christmas party, but they did so (briefly) when she reminded them that they were contractually obligated.
“They had to show up at that party,” says one source. “They are under contract and part of their job obligations include fulfilling all job duties.”
“The family is more like business partners than they are a family. As soon as the cameras were not on, their job was done, and just as they always do, they went on their way…Bruce and Kris’ divorce absolutely drove this family apart.”
Of course, the saddest thing about all of this is that Kris won’t get a piece of the inevitable reality show about Bruce’s sex change.
