All men should have the problems of Jake Peralta.

On Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 2 Episode 9, our favorite New York City detective (no offense, Kate Beckett) turned a prisoner escort upstate into a romantic getaway with his girlfriend, Sophia, played by the breathtaking Eva Longoria.

The breathtaking Eva Longoria and the hilarious Eva Longoria, we should say, because her character has been a hoot on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

In this case, she snapped a naked selfie in the bathtub, while also doing her best to seduce Peralta, despite the fact that they were staying in the Room of 1,000 Dolls; i.e. The Scariest Room in Recorded Bed and Breakfast History.

The chemistry between Jake and Sophia was clear, but it was also interrupted by the fact that Jake invited Teddy to also stay at the hotel with Amy, trying to surprise his colleague by helping her boyfriend act spontaneous.

Just one problem: Amy was planning to break up with Teddy.

She had outlined a break-up speech and planned the ideal location and everything.

Jake, therefore, took responsibility and helped diffuse any romance during a very awkward double date dinner, one that included Teddy ordering his beloved pilsner and Amy not being able to keep it in any longer:

She broke Teddy’s heart in the least smooth of ways.

But his response is what ought to take Brooklyn Nine-Nine in a new direction: he countered her claims of him being boring by saying things changed after Jake admitted he had feelings for Amy.

Amy said this made her "confused" and, yes, she one had feelings for Jake as well.

So goodbye, Teddy… and goodbye, Sophia?

Jake seemed to make amends with Sophia before the credits rolled, saying he no longer has a thing for his co-worker. But why do we doubt this is actually the case?

Elsewhere on the episode, Boyle tried to help Holt cook a romantic breakfast for his husband, which led to some amazing Brooklyn Nine-Nine quotes, highlighted by Holt’s reasoning for why he eats peanut butter and jelly sandwiches:

Their components have a long shelf life, they’re cost effective and they’re so simple a child could make them.

Should Jake choose Amy or Sophia?
