Boyle and Jake were told to just say no… no to each other on Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 2 Episode 11.

The latest installment of this Fox sitcom featured these best buddies choosing to an an entire eight-day stakeout by themselves, as they plopped down inside a nasty hotel room in order to spy on criminal activity across the street.

Would they get on each other’s nerves? Of course, not, Boyle and Jake insisted. They never get sick of each other!

But then Charles chewed with his mouth open. And Jake ate butter with syrup.

And Charles rhymed… Jake wanted to talk about Die Hard (and Die Hard 2 and Die Hard 3 and even Die Hard 4, which does exist, Boyle)… and Charles did male kegels… and Jake beat-boxed… and Charles talked about his butthole… and Jake called legitimate business ideas schemes… and…

… You get the idea.

Even the most bro-tastic of bromances can suffer when you’re alone with your BFF for this long a period of time.

Fortunately, Holt forced Jake and Boyle to work together to track down a lead after the stakeout ended and this enabled them to teach up and actually catch the bad guy.

All other issues were instantly resolved and they went back to being more than best friends. They were now brothers, Jake said. And, hey, brothers sometimes fight.

Elsewhere:

  • Rosa slept with Holt’s nephew (played by Nick Cannon), which led to an awkwardly hilarious sign of her trying to leave in the morning while Holt and Ray ate breakfast.
  • Hoyt did later give Rosa his blessing to date his relative, but both sides agreed to "never talk about anything."
  • Gina and Amy read a book Terry was drawing for his daughters, one in which they believed he implied Gina was a bitch and Amy was a pushover.
  • So they set out to prove him wrong, even if that’s not what he ever intended in the first place.
  • But Amy said she liked standing up for herself and will go it more often, while Gina said: "I learned I’m perfect the way I am and I should never change." Yes, that’s a reference to Chelsea Peretti’s stand-up special.
