First, on The Flash Season 1 Episode 8, Oliver Queen visited Central City.
Then, last night on Arrow Season 3 Episode 8, Barry Allen returned the favor, paying his hooded friend a visit in Starling City.
The Flash team needed to lend Oliver a hand when it came to a certain boomerang problem, one that honed in on Diggle’s girlfriend, Lyla.
There were many profound discussions between folks such as Diggle and Cisco and Lyla and Oliver (sample: Sometimes bravery isn’t enough; sometimes the world requires us to be bold), as the show made the point that Oliver does different things than Barry. Darker things.
Remember: This is a man who was stuck in an island for fie years; who doesn’t have some CSI team behind him to work on evidence; whose own mother was killed before his very eyes. Oh, right, that last point applies to Barry as well.
"Sorry I’m not as emotionally healthy as you," Oliver responds when Barry points this out. And he’s right.
On the storyline side of things a disgruntled A.R.G.U.S. agent-turned-rogue Suicide Squad member named Digger Harkness was a man who knew how to wield a knife.
He delivered some drama to the Diggle-Lyla relationship and he finally made the former realize what was missing from their lives: Would she marry him?
As was the cast on the first part of this special CW crossover, there was many purely fun moments and exchanges as well. To wit:
- Cisco begged Felicity to show him and Caitlin the “Arrow Cave” and all its “toys."
- Barry rocked the salmon ladder in total Flash-mode, making it nearly look easy.
- Akin to Rocky III (please tell us someone gets that reference), Oliver and Barry privately/playfully settled it “once and for all” when it came to who would kick whose ass… with the camera cutting just as the fight began.
Go ahead and watch Arrow online for more enjoyable aspects of this two-part crossover event and prepare for a real fight on Arrow Season 3 Episode 9.
Look who will be back next Wednesday night:
