Just when we finally dried our tears from the conclusion of Toy Story 3, Pixar has come out with a shockingly awesome announcement:
TOY STORY 4 IS ON THE WAY!
John Lasseter is on board to direct the next installment in this beloved franchise, which will be released in June of 2017.
“John created Toy Story and directed the first two films, and it’s great to have him back directing one of our most valuable properties,” Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a quarterly earnings call for investors late Thursday afternoon.
Iger did not get into plot specific, nor did he say whether Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Wallace Shawn or any of the other stars who voice the iconic toys will be returning.
But come on. Would they possibly green light Toy Story 4 if they were not?!?
In the four years since Toy Story 3 earned raves and buckets of money around the globe, Woody, Buzz and company have appeared in a number of short films and TV specials, all of which picked up with the group of play things after original owner Andy handed them over to a new toddler, Bonnie.
So prepare to both laugh and cry: more Toy Story is on the way!
