For Sleepy Hollow viewers, the mysterious succubus – a long-discussed phenomenon never before seen on our screens – arrived at last on last night’s show.
What did that mean for Abbie and Ichabod on Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Episode 8?
When the episode gets underway, Crane is still hurt by his wife’s deceit and lies.
His trust issues are pretty obvious, but there are bigger issues at stake here.
Their son, Henry, calls upon a succubus using her beating heart. This creature, evidently, will use her victims’ life force to feed Moloch. Pretty intense!
Lilith, the succubus, heads to a club and lures a young man back to his car.
Like an emotionless locust, she drains the life force from his mortal body.
If you watch Sleepy Hollow online, you know there can be some crazy twists and turns, but nothing quite like what we’ve seen from this here succubus.
Next up she returns to Fredericks Manor and transfers the life force of her victim into the large jar containing Moloch’s essence in hopes it will revive him.
The Horrid King says that’s not enough, though, and sends her back out.
Abbie believes that Henry is behind the carnage at the supernatural crime scene, and soon enough, they learn they are in fact dealing with a succubus.
Katrina uses a spell to track its energy, and track her to a boat where she had lured Hawley. They save Hawley, but the succubus is able to escape.
Then Katrina has a vision of Henry and the succubus feeding a baby.
As in feeding the life force from their victim to an infant, and not just any random infant mind you, but Moloch, who survived and is now of this world.
The succubus also goes by Incordata, or The Heartless. It’s literal.
Her heart, which is kept in a separate location, must be destroyed in order to bring down the supernatural being’s impressive power. So the hunt is on.
Ichabod and Hawley quickly find her at the same club, while Katrina and Abbie find the heart in a cemetery and attempt to shut the thing down for good.
The succubus battles the duo but is eventually killed. Phew.
At the end of the installment, Katrina says she must return to Abraham as a spy, which Abbie tells Crane about and he seems more or less okay with.
Just before the credits roll, her enchanted necklace still in place, Katrina looks down at a healthy baby boy as Abraham and Henry welcome her back.
