When Chris Martin and Jennifer Lawrence broke up last week, Gwyneth Paltrow was widely blamed for the split.
Several sources reported that Paltrow “pressured” Martin to dump Lawrence, and that he eventually gave in to his estranged wife and did as she asked.
It was originally reported that Paltrow was concerned about having someone as young as Lawrence take on a major role in the lives of her children.
Now, however, insiders are saying Gwinnie wanted the relationship to end for purely selfish reasons:
“I suppose it’s a case of they can’t live without one another,” says an anonymous source. “The chances of there being a happy reconciliation are high…They look back and enjoy what they did have and are loving what they currently had.”
Martin and Paltrow’s “conscious uncoupling” made headlines back in March.
The odd method the couple used to end their ten-year marriage, coupled with bizarre rumors about their “open relationship” made it one of the most scrutinized celebrity breakups in years.
Now that there are rumors of a reconciliation, Paltrow and Martin will likely find themselves right back on the cover of every tabloid.
Of course, there are many who believe that that’s just where Gwyneth wants to be.
