Ummm… happy Halloween?
Continuing its early season theme of evil organizations, this NBC drama took things to especially frightening heights on “The Mombasa Cartel,” as a despicable poacher gang was targeted by some very creepy taxidermy enthusiasts.
(As opposed to non-creeopy taxidermy enthusiasts.)
The hour also continued to soften up Red a bit, with viewers learning he apparently has a thing for protecting endangered species. Hey, Ian Somderhalder would be proud!
But the scare tactics and the gross-out level of the Case of the Week was all background in the end.
The episode was truly meant to reveal what 99.999999% of fans guessed about three weeks ago: Lizzie has been keeping Tom behind that basement door.
He has new scruff and a new set of ankle shackles and Lizzie is torn about whether or not to kill her shady estranged husband.
It’s about time the show came out with this storyline fully, especially because only two installments remain until the midseason finale.
There’s still plenty for The Blacklist to explain, too, such as what Alan Alda (as Fitch) is up to… how the Berlin arc will play out… and why Red still has a back full of burn scars.
Will Tom be able to shed light on these mysteries? We’re looking forward to finding out.
