Starbucks is no stranger to controversy.
Over the past year or so, the beloved coffee chain has outlawed guns inside its store, while also hiring at least one employee who liked including Satantic symbols in his lattes.
Now, the company has come out with its first-ever LGBT-based ad, as two former RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants – Bianca Del Rio and Adore Delano – appear in a commercial that touts how Starbucks can bring frenemies closer together.
The footage features Adore cutting in line because she’s in a “really big hurry,” only for an argument to then break out with Bianca.
"Look, honey, I’ve seen that you’ve cut the line," Bianca explodes. "I am in line waiting for my skinny latte like everyone else, and I feel you should do exactly the same. Did anybody ever tell you that excessive amount of makeup during the day makes you look really horrible?"
But then a barista saves the drag queens from any further shade throwing by offering both of them a coffee, as the screen cuts to the tagline/theme of the spot:
"Saving friendships since 1971."
