We had to suspend a bit of disbelief on NCIS Season 12 Episode 5.
With Agent Abigail Borin teaming up with Gibbs and Tony once more, we witnessed this trio taking part in a training exercise… that took a fatal turn when they spotted a corpse floating in the water near the ship.
Or 60 miles away from the ship, to be precise.
Talk about impressive vision, huh?!?
Gibbs and company therefore tracked down the boat from which this dead man came, only to speak with a captain who clearly shady from the outset.
There was also an "engineer" who was shadowing the first mate on this boat, but Gibbs saw directly through him due to his canvas shoes.
Granted, we may have missed that detail, but this man’s guilt was also apparent from the get-go due to how closely he was following the first mate.
NCIS typically treats its viewers with a level of respect, but this episode force fed us obvious clues for some reason. It didn’t exactly leave our jaw hanging at the end from any kind of big surprise.
But McGee was a hoot to watch as he assumed not just the mantle of "boss" at NCIS headquarter, but also the spirit of Gibbs to boot. He came across like a carbon copy of the man usually in charge.
Does this make McGee a bona fide leader in the mold of one of TV’s best, LJ Gibbs? Or is he an impressionable puppet who just copies someone else’s mannerisms? DISCUSS!
This wasn’t the best installment of all-time, but it did introduce us to Rule 70: Keep digging till you hit bottom.
A bit on the cheesy side? Sure. But it’s akin to saying "don’t give up until you’ve got what you came for" and that’s an important lesson for all to learn.
What did you think of this NCIS installment? Are we being too critical?
