Sorry, art lovers. You’ll need to surf the Internet, like everyone else, in order to see photos of Jennifer Lawrence nude and/or Kate Upton nude.
Following a wave of public backlash, XVALA has decided NOT to go through with an exhibit in Florida that would have featured leaked images of the the celebrities featured in last week’s naked photo hacking scandal.
The photos were originally planned to be life-size and unaltered – and XVALA actually thought this was an appropriate idea.
Why did he change his mind?
“It wasn’t just about being ‘hacked’ images anymore, but now presented in the media as stolen property,” XVALA said in a statement to E! News. “People were identifying with Jennifer Lawrence’s and Kate Upton’s victimization, much more than I had anticipated, which is powerfully persuasive.”
Mere days earlier, the artist said he was proceeding with the upcoming show despite outrage from the public because he yearned to depict the “images as art.”
In other words: he wanted to make a lot of money by exploiting the controversy.
However, now that his supposed goal of public awareness has been accomplished, so he sees no point in continuing.
“This concept was always about self-examination in our current culture,” XVALA said. “Why we feel the need to know and cross the lines of other individual’s privacy.”
