Speaking this weekend at Stand & Fight, a rally held by the National Rifle Association (NRA), Sarah Palin did not disappoint attendees looking for fiery rhetoric.
The 50-year-old former Republican V.P. candidate claimed that President Obama’s foreign policy and global vision have merely “coddled adversaries.”
A Palin presidency, she argues, would be quite different …
“Come on. Enemies, who would utterly annihilate America, they who’d obviously have information on plots, to carry out Jihad,” the ex-Alaska Governor said.
“Oh, but you can’t offend them, can’t make them uncomfortable, not even a smidgen."
"If I were in charge, they would know that waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists.”
Waterboarding is a controversial interrogation technique in which water is poured on the face of a detainee, who is immobilized, to induce a fear of drowning.
Experiencing this mortal terror will force the detainee to reveal information, or so the theory goes. Its effectiveness and morality has been hotly debated.
Palin was asked about the controversial quote the next day, and didn’t walk it back.
“Would I make it again? Why wouldn’t I, yeah, absolutely,” she told NBC News.
“Terrorists who want to annihilate Americans, innocent Americans, our children … whatever it takes to stop them. If I were in charge, I’d be stoppin’ em,” she said.
Typical Palin, steadfast and instantly quotable. But do you agree with her?
