Actor/Newscaster Mario Machado has died. He passed away this weekend at the age of 78, from complications due to pneumonia.
Machado, born in Shanghai, China, became Los Angeles’ first Asian-American news anchor in 1967, for KHJ-TV.
He went on to portray a newscaster in various films, including Scarface, Rocky III, and the Robocop movies.
Machado had been ill for some time with Parkinson’s disease. He died at a West Hills convalescent facility.
He will be missed.
