A crisis was averted in South Florida over the weekend when a father rescued his child from the teeth of an alligator in Boynton Beach.
The incident took place when six-year old Joey Welsh wandered off during a canoe trip, ending up in the clenches of an animal that left marks on his arms and stomach.
"I ran in the water. It was about waist deep. I had my son like this here, because I didn’t want to play tug-o-war with the alligator," Joseph Welch says in the above news report.
"While I’m doing that, I’m punching the alligator on top of the head as hard as I could."
A bystander than rushed over and assisted Joseph, helping to kick the gator away.
Authorities say trappers later caught and killed the eight-foot animal, while Joey came through the scary situation with only minor injuries.
Thank goodness!
