The death of Annette Funicello, the most famous original Mickey Mouse Club member, understandably hit close to home for another famous MMC member.
Britney Spears responded to the tragic news on Twitter:
“Misheard a question I was asked earlier by press while I was out and about. I’m DEVASTATED to hear about the passing of Annette Funicello. #Heartbroken”
“She was a role model for me during my days as a Mousketeer.”
Britney was referring to a TMZ question she fielded earlier in the day, in which she responded to Funciello’s passing by saying “I think that’s great.”
Obviously just a misunderstanding. And a sad day for her.
