The recent Chris Brown tattoo hullabaloo has sparked controversy and a bunch of hilarious memes, but hasn’t been addressed by the singer himself.

Until now.

Despite online chatter that the tat resembles a bruised, beaten Rihanna, if you ask Chris, this permanent new marking is nothing more than art:

Indeed, CB’s publicist says it’s “is a sugar skull (associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead) and a MAC cosmetics design he saw.”

Tattoo artist Peter Koskela backed the story up as well, while a source close to the “Don’t Judge Me” singer revealed to celeb gossip magnet Perez Hilton:

“Naw man, that’s [isn’t] Rihanna tatted on [Chris] no matter how much [you all are] trying to make it seem. Sorry, it [isn’t] her. [Chris] loves women and you know he loves Ri, but come on now, he [isn’t] about to tat a b**** on him. That [isn’t] how he rolls.”

Word.
