Mike DeStefano, a finalist in 2010 on Last Comic Standing, has passed away. The 44-year old suffered a heart attack last night, just days before he was scheduled to anchor the one-man show A Cherry Tree in The Bronx in NYC.

The Bronx native finished fourth on the stand-up-based reality show last year. DeStefano, who was HIV positive, had overcome such obstacles in his life as drug addiction and the death of his wife.

A recovering heroin user, DeStefano was working as drug counselor in Florida when he offered to entertain the audience at a convention over a decade ago. He earned a positive response and his career took off from there.

Our thoughts go out to his family.
