Finally over the gang-banging-with-groupies phase of his life, Bret Michaels says he really might settle down with Kristi Gibson, the mother of his two daughters.
Asked for the odds of marrying his on-and-off girlfriend of 16 years, the rocker told People magazine at this weekend’s Miss Universe pageant there’s a “50/50” chance he’ll propose.
“We’ve been talking a lot about getting engaged, and we’ll see what happens,” said Michaels, who co-hosted the event won by Jimena Navarrete of Mexico. “We just want to make sure we’re not doing it for anyone other than ourselves.”
Michaels, of course, suffered from a life-threatening brain hemorrhage this spring.
The experience made him a popular, sympathetic public figure and even a candidate to be the new American Idol judge.
“Fate has a strange way of intervening in your life, and I think everything just kind of came together,” Bret told the magazine. “Hopefully we’ll get engaged. But if we don’t, we’ll still love and respect each other.”
